The alchemist was passing through the desert and came upon a strange book. Unlike previous stories of Narcissus, this one was about a young man from the distant land of Queens, New York. The title, Homeboy and The Pyramids interested him, so he decided to read it.
Peace, this is the story of your boy Illmatical and how he escaped a smothering religious cult and the dregs of corporate America, to finally change his life so that he could travel the world.
Following the path before him, the universe determined that he would go to Brazil in 2010. Before leaving, the book THE ALCHEMIST comes to him in the same manner that other good books have. The book is symbolically about a young man who travels to Egypt to seek his treasure.
After living in Rio de Janeiro for half a year, Illmatical continues his journey to Asia, pursuing his treasure.
After his job offer is rescinded in Beijing, he sets out to survive behind The Great Wall while working illegally. While in China, he makes a visa run to Hong Kong and is overwhelmed by the city's sophistication. He believes that Hong Kong is where he will find his treasure and live out his personal legend.
Over the next four years, while traveling through provinces in China, Taiwan, Cambodia, and Vietnam, he is presented with many challenges and uncanny experiences, finally making it to Hong Kong. After living there for six months as a digital nomad, he is faced with a six-month prison sentence in the infamous Hong Kong prison system.
In prison, Illmatical befriends Chinese triad members, international thieves, Africans, and he comes in contact with an alchemist who helps him find his treasure.
